Pink Oleander, top of the tree

Another pink oleander, this time near the top of the tree, surrounded by leaves and backed by the sky. I like this but think perhaps it needs more cropping on the right. What do you think? The very pretty flower has poinonous elements, and it is not a good plants to have where there are children. The berries in what looks like a pea pod - just off centre in this photo - are especially so. This was part of a tree by the roadside. I have young grandsons (and their parents) staying for a while. Mirror Sunglasses

Mirror Sunglasses - I don't like them. I don't like not being able to see through them. The man was aware that I was taking photos and that my camera was pointing at him. He didn't seem to mind, but I have severly cropped the image anyway. I have young grandsons (and their parents) staying for a while. Look Darling

I spotted these two on a quiet road. The child was pushing her toy buggy and doll, and was determined that she would walk on the stony ground. I don't know if her Daddy was showing her something or trying to explain why she should walk on this bit of road. The novely of pushing the buggy on the stones soon wore off, and on the homeward journey Daddy was carry the child and the buggy. I have young grandsons (and their parents) staying for a while. Pink Lantana

Red and orange lantana is quite common here, but this pink one is not common at all. It looked very delicate and dainty - unlike the red one which looks gawdy and brash. But both are beautiful, I think. Small picture of red lantana in my archive, 24th July 2008. In some countries Lantana is classified as a noxious weed, in others you can also be fined for even having it on your property. In others it is a cultivated flower. It is poisonous to cattle, I don't know about sheep or goats. But there is so much lantana here, and so many goats, that I guess it is OK for them, or else the goats are clever enough to know that they can't eat it. Red Hibiscus - full face

Another lovely red hibiscus, this time full on (side view of a different hibiscus was last week). I like the dusting of yellow pollen on the lower petal. I don't know what this plant is called, or anything about it. But it formed a hedge and the berries were spectacular. The birds thought so too! Rocks and Misty Mountains

Just for today I am giving you a treat, because I can't share my birthday cake with you. This is one of my most favourite shots from the walk to the top of Mesa Roldan (see my series 2 weeks ago). It was taken about 9 months ago. Yes, that little shape on the rocky outcrop in the foreground really is a climber. This photo still gives me pleasure every time I look at it and is one of the few photos that I have enlarged for framing. . I have young grandsons (and their parents) staying for a while. This little girl was quite happy to pose for the camera, telling me she wanted to be a dancer and an actress. Boy in Black and White

This little boy really did not want his photo taken, so in the end I promised that I would make him look diffrerent if he just behaved for one shot. This is what I did. He pronounced it "cool" and even his mother liked it better than the others and asked for a reprint. I was quite pleased with it too.
