The Weekly Thursday Market
This cooked chicken seller is in the same place every week. He arrives in his truck, He opens the side, lets down bits, folds bits out, connects his gas bottles on the other side and starts cooking. Then he sets up his working counter and gets ready to sell. They smell good, and he does a good business.
This is a well known market which attracts visitors from outlying areas.
Older women come in with big shopping trolleys and young women have big pushchairs. In some areas the space between the stalls is narrow and you have to weave between the obstructions, trolleys and buggies. This is usually the only day when we hear English spoken on the streets, usually by people who only come in once a week, to shop at the market.
