Mesa Roldan, in the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, Almeria, Spain.
Part 5 - a stroll round the top of the mountain
You can walk over the whole of the top of Mesa Roldan. Then you discover that the barren wilderness is not barren at all but a mini jungle of plants and, mostly yellow, flowers, with a buzzing of bees and other insects and even a few butterflies.
The park is an area of natural beauty of all kinds, from harsh and dramatic to soft and gentle. It covers a very large area. This is just one small part of it, but it is 10 minutes drive from where we live (from front door to car park) and is one of our favourite places for feeling the wind, admiring the views, studying the rocks and plants, and even just sitting. A place of peace and tranquility, where nature is the boss.
