photoblog image Swans - Loving Couple
Two swans on a river slipway, grooming each other.  They stood like this for some time taking turns to groom each other, and shake out their feathers.  You can see the discarded feathers on the ground around them.

This will be my last river photo for a while.  It's time I paid some attention to Spring, and the seaside, but I'm sure I won't be long away from my favourite place. .

No contrast control and no white balancing. It is a nicely exposed image and a great angle. But i definitely reccommend that 1. you shoot it in Manual 2.Use a long lens to take metering of the swan 3. adjust exposure according to the result you want to get.

Swans fascinate me, I can sit and watch them for ages, like you seem to have done here. I presume this is a pair of fully fledged adults who've mated for life?
Sheila, in Kent, SE England: Thanks for your comments, Ellie. Swans fascinate me as well. Strange thing about these swans is that they were a long way from where the swans normally cluster on this river and there are normally so many it's hard to pick out couples. So I guess these two really were a pair - they just looked right together (do you know what I mean?). I haven't been back to that part of the river since to see if they are still there.
